I understood that snakes liked heat. But according to the article below it is not so.

One of Australia's most venomous snakes is 'air-fried' in 43C heatwave

A red-bellied black snake has been baked to death during a sweltering heatwave.
The dried-out reptile was discovered by a snake catcher in Willunga, in Adelaide's south, during a sweltering 43C day earlier this month.
The venomous snake was 'air-fried' while trying to find some shade underneath a bush and likely died within just a few minutes.
A local woman called Rolly Burrell from Snake Catchers Adelaide after she noticed the venomous snake had gone completely still.
'A lady called us out saying there was a red belly under a bush and that she saw it move from one bush to the other,' Mr Burrell told 7News. 'I got there in about 40 minutes because we were pretty hammered and, when I got there, it was dead - it was air-fried.'The expert explained snakes start to hemorrhage 'a lot of blood' after the temperature exceeds a maximum of 35C. 'When it was 43C it just dried out so fast. I mean, you could have cooked eggs and bacon on the footpath. But that's the first time I've seen that in 40 years,' he said.![]()

Aussies were mostly sympathetic towards the snake.
'Poor thing, what a horrible way to die,' one said.
'You've got to feel sorry for the snake… the pain must have been excruciating. Moving around trying to find some moisture and a cool spot only to be cooked alive. If it was this hot so close to Adelaide, I can't imagine how bad it was further inland where the temp was closer to 50C,' a second wrote.
A third commented: 'Keep water around your homes on hot days people, you never know who needs a drink or bath'.
Snakes are more likely to seek solace inside people's homes during heatwaves as they are very sensitive to hot temperatures.
Red-bellied black snakes are 'not aggressive' and will usually retreat before attacking, though will hiss and rear up when threatened.
Although its venom can cause significant illness, no deaths have ever been recorded.
The snakes are mostly found along the east coast of Australia.
Anyone who approaches a red-bellied snake are advised not to approach or attack the creature, as they can strike back when they are confronted.
