I smoked ~80 cigarettes a day for 9 years and gave up cold turkey in 1986. I am still going strong. No evident ill effects.

Why the punkish belligerence? Cigs are too expensive due to policy, hard on battlers. Displaying brittleness shows weakness, desperate to argue over nothing. Defenestration may be required.
