Lousy day, rain outside. Oh well.

Busy creating a batch of apple butter. The apples, small and green, some with possum damage were donated by the lady I have bought chook, duck and goose eggs from. Green means plenty of pectin so good. If the butter is too tart some muscovado sugar will correct that and add a tad of molasses flavor.

Struggling with the forms. Will is OK. Bil gave me a list of all his kids/grandkids but only two will be used. That may cause a kerfuffle but it is MY will.

Power of attorney. Going to make this almost irrelevant by setting up bank accounts and direct debits—my attorneys might need to look after bills not part of the regular set up. Think rego is the only one needs to be done manually and that is not for that many more years, ten maybe. Will set it up to pay annually tho don’t get enough discount or the attorney pays quarterly.

So need to set up a new email account, have all correspondence re bills sent there. Family and local attorneys can access this email addy and the account used to pay bills. Savings tucked into a different account at a different bank nit accessible.

Then a local yokel to access my mail at the PO as my attorney, notify family if some unusual matter has arisen, look after Socks even if only to put in boarding kennel if I am suddenly in hospital etc.

All this because family is 1000Km and two states away.

Not yet. Don’t really need it, I collect mail from the PO anyway—mail is not delivered. But a PO box might be useful, could leave the spare key to the house in it. PO recently got a heap of post boxes so no problem with availability.

If you have a po box you can leave a spare key to the box with a neighbour or friend and they can collect your mail whenever you need them to. No need for forms or paperwork giving someone access. Since you have no street delivery you're entitled to a reduced rate box which will only cost you about $50 a year. It might also be worth your while to download the AP app. With it you can authorise anyone to collect your parcels at any time as long as they have a mobile phone.

AP app? Never knew they had one! A note in the PO Box giving [whoever] permission to be in my house night be useful.

One thing weighing on my mind: Socks! Nightmares about Socks slowly dying of starvation in my house while I am in hospital!

I will. Post Office lady already volunteered to feed Socks. I visit the PO Monday and Thursday to check for any physical/non–electronic mail so she would know if I am absent without notifying her.

Heh, have to visit Eye Inst this month so am adding other things to do in Launceston to make the trip worthwhile. Want to get some photos of Socks printed in large format then composed and framed and have some pictures/photos reframed where the frames are broken or coming apart. That photo of Socks is a fantastic action photo! Only problem is, to show the dirt and grass etc flying in the air from under Sock’s feet would put Socks right at the left side of the photo.

Maybe two smaller photos could be mounted to the left of the action shot, resetting the focal point a bit more towards the centre. Will discuss with people who do this all day every day.

Need to find time for a visit to the dog park, of course :) :) :) :) :)

Have drawn up a program—visit will cost like $60-70 just for petrol. Complicating factor—left eye will have pupil expanded for the examination of that eye. That won’t relax to nearly normal for two hours so be stuck in the clinic’s car park for an hour I imagine. Bit of a waste of limited time but can’t help it.

Heh, looking for bookcases. Need ones that can hold BOOKS, kilos weight of books! Not a few ornaments.

Think Ikea has the best one. Looking forward to the assembly, not.

I've got a wall full of Ikea Billy bookshelves. They work great, are easy to move around when i need to and you can change them up with doors (both solid and glass), lights etc if you want to. Mine are stacked full of books and they hold the weight no problems.

yeah, some “bookcases” seem able to hold a couple ornaments, barely. Billy, fairly narrow can hold 25 or 30Kg—realistic.

Think I might buy a corner unit, can put object de arts in the narrow centre bit in the corner. Get a glass door for it.

300 cookbooks, 100 gardening books plus smaller science and brewing libraries. Then fiction books including a heap of scifi.

Pick them up on the 26th . . . of June!

No Ikea shop here, just distribution points in Launie and Hobart. Oh well, ordered, paid and the local courier informed. Next a corner unit plus another Billy.

Yeah, and fasten the bookcases to the wall etc. Know all that. Could put antiques etc in the top shelf rather than books further increasing the stability of the shelves.

I have an 'extension' or 'topper' on the top of my billies which increases the height and gives you an extra shelf. The added bonus is that with my ceiling height, the topper only just fits and I have no chance of the shelf tipping.
