Decorating casa Monk

LOL! Casa Monk was let for a loooong time before I bought it. Should have heard the electrician I hired to do electrical work! His opinion on the electrical “earth” burned the paper I tried to record it on!

Anyway, BIL was doing some work in what is now my study, his voice was full of incredulity “They put the hinges on the architrave, not the door jamb!”

Bit more investigation: someone HAD put the hinge on the jamb, but fucked it up so someone moved the hinge to the architrave. Don’t need the door no more so it got removed—heavy 4 panel door, hopefully can get $200–400 for it.

Need some $$$ soon, bloody wallabies, disgusting rabbits and now fucking DEER are destroying my apple orchard!

Need a fence! My shoulders just told me that they would seek new quarters if I tried to handle a borehole digger. So a contractor is needed. 1.2m high fence, 2 star droppers then a post. No idea of $$$. But without a fence wallabies, pademelons, rabbits and now fucking deer will destroy my orchard and any veges I plant.

Once stage I had tomatoes and potatoes growing lovely then suddenly—they were gone!

BASTARDS!

use goat fencing and star pickets. Relatively cheap. I've been told that can get a 100m roll here for about $150. I want to give my dog more room to run around in.

I told BIL about my idea of a fence. No problem with the concept but he asked me “How are you going to place the star droppers?”

When I explained a heavy hammer he mentioned LOTS of people lost fingers or worse doing that, need to use a post hole digger—can imagine the SCREAM my shoulders would raise if I tried to do this myself. So need a fencing contractor.

Or I could do it myself, s l o w l y .

When the fence is up, can let the dog out to chase rabbits!

Nails? Did I mention Casa Monk was let for some decades? Read about the hinge fixed to the architrave?

Here is how some cowboy “fixed” one nail:

I will hang my BSc Testamur in my study. Found my HS Leaving and Leaving Honors (fourth and fifth year high school.) Won’t hang them but just show them here:

It was funny when I posted the testamur of my B.Sc. on OzPol. Larry with his “double degree in Ancient and Modern Greek” and Booby with his “six years of tertiary education” disappeared like cockroaches when the light is switched on, afraid I would challenge them to produce their qualifications, their non–existent qualifications.

110m of fence including 3m or so for a gate. One side is already fenced with a new hardwood fence (cost me $2300 for the materials) and the garage takes up 12m of fence line. As long as the fence is put up in a workmanlike manner and looks straight and neat aesthetics do not concern me. Keeping pests out and Socks in concerns me!

After the fence and some saving I intend to buy a robot vacuum cleaner.

I LOVE my hardwood floors BUT dust accumulates like crazy every day! One of the worst places for dust bunnies is under the bed and it is a type where the bottom of the bed is just a few centimetres above floor level making it impossible to sweep underneath.

I know Choice have conducted extensive research into robot vac’s so should be OK.

“Fun” day yesterday. Shit night’s sleep, drive self and mutt to Launceston. Stop on the way, buy a bottle of Coke which gets me to “Launie.” Get there early enough dog can have 30 minutes in dog park. To the Paterson St carpark and leave mutt in car and go to see lawyer re new will. Come back to car, walk dog on car park top level 10 minutes, put mutt back in car go to optometrist.

Left eye needs cornea replacement. Hmmm.

Back to dog park for 30 minutes, then Alps and Amici to buy some yummies incl chicken meatballs for dog and a pastry for me to eat in the car. Buy more petrol, more Coke and home. I was in bed and asleep before 8.00pm.

When Demi was alive I ensured she had a break, a walk, every two hours on long trips. Socks has MUCH longer legs, must be cramped on the back seat and so I try to give her a “walky” every hour if possible.

LOL! In the morning I let Socks into the dog park, closed the gate, removed her lead and the bitch took off! For like 10 minutes she ran at a high speed, just kept running and running. The other dogs there looked at her and decided not to give chase, a wise decision because they would have just looked silly.

I could see a group of homeowners looking at Socks in amazement. I walked to them and remarked “My dog HATES running!” LOL. That was good.

As well as a will I will have to arrange:

1. Enduring Power of Attorney

2. Enduring Medical Guardian

3. Advanced Care Directive—sometimes called a ‘Living Will’ I think.

Joy, paperwork. Research into the 3 lots of paperwork then drawing up the documents. A problem with this—family is 1000Km and 3 states away.

Go to a Post Office and buy the things. Easy.
